This book, written with the intention of compensating for deficiencies in the field of conservation and restoration of stone artifacts, is the result of extensive efforts and research. Despite the abundance of stone artifacts and sites in Iran, the lack of comprehensive and modern sources in this field, especially in the Persian language, has presented researchers and enthusiasts with significant challenges in accessing the latest materials and methods.

On the other hand, the considerable passage of time since the limited availability of existing resources has made it difficult, and even impossible, to utilize many of the contents of these books. Therefore, considering the lack of sufficient knowledge and information, as well as the undeniable deficiencies in the field of modern resources, and the significant need for familiarity with the latest methods of conserving and restoring stone artifacts, this book aims to fill the existing gap. While making a modest contribution in the first chapter by examining the history of stone usage and artistic studies, the second chapter explores the causes of stone damage, along with all destructive and deteriorating factors, reviewing various stone tests and methods of their use. The third chapter, after examining conventional and diverse methods in cleaning stone artifacts and the characteristics of each of these methods, concludes with a historical review of the use of techniques and materials for preserving and conserving stone structures.

It is hoped that this book, which undoubtedly is not without its roles and shortcomings, will be fruitful for enthusiasts in this field and will be considered…
