In this article a Qajar metallic artwork (decorative
plate) has been investigated by v i s u a l and comparative studies and instrumental chemistry measurements. Technology and identification of how it is made and also preparation of the metallic substrate is investigated. It shows that a complementary layer of paint is applied on a metal substrate. Metallurgical studies on metallic supports are done to find how it has been prepared. A remarkable result about the method of preparation and decoration of the object has been obtained. Finally, conservation and restoration techniques have been applied according to accepted standards of conservation principles.
